Mile High Con

In October 27th at the Mile High Con 39, SG-14 introduced the Boot Camp for the first time. The panel was advertised at the SG-14 Fan table, we also set up a big poster in the hotel main hall. The slotted time for the panel was Saturday at 5pm, and there was a full house.

All 6 trainers had about 5 minutes to briefly present their departments and explain what they are about, and what are they planning to do in the future. A handout of those lectures was given to the audience by the assistants, as well as a welcome package enticing them to join the Boot camp.

MHC 39 Panel

As the audience came into the room, they were given a welcome package, including a welcome letter, stickers, and a set of 6 stargate chevrons. Once the room was filled, the doors were closed and SG-14 security was placed outside with the orders not to let anyone in or out.
After the doors closed, Tille as the SG Team Leader introduced the panel, and a little bit of SG-14 history. Following Tillie's presentation, the trainers started the lectures about their respective departments, while their assistant's handed out copies of them.
  1. SG Command was the first. Krys talked about the different SG Teams, and what are they specialized on: Exploration, Medical, Marines, Diplomatic, Scientific, Engineering, etc.
  2. Atlantis came after. Jerry presented an exhaustive time line for the city of Atlantis, from the fall of the Ancients to the arrival of the SG Exploration Teams.
  3. Medical was next. Kathy showed the audience what we should keep in a good First Aid kit, and how to use it.
  4. Research and Development continued. Ana taught a few easy words in Ancient and Goa'uld, and also pointed out a few System Lords SG defeated in the past.
  5. Weaponry and Combat demonstrated the use of a Mp5 submachine gun, and how to safely operate a weapon.
  6. Science Labs was the last. Paige talked about the dial device, and basic knowledge about the Stargate and how it works.
After the presentations were over, Michelle the Missions Director, told us about what to expect from the missions. Right in the middle of her speech, the lights suddenly turned off, and the voice of Horus delivered a deadly threatto SG-14 team.
All the presenters lost their memories, and a lockappeared on the door. Horus left very clear that if SG-14 could not find the combination for the lock -made of 6 Stargate chevrons-, Earth will be destroyed. He did sent some cluesto find the combination. The remaining team members with the help of the audience bundle together to figured out the combination before they ran out of time. Finally in the nick of time, the proper combinationwas correctly input into the lock, the doors opened, the trainers recover their memories, and Earth was saved one more time.
